Difficulties in translating his name across a number of languages and alphabets have resulted in several different versions of his name being recorded. His year of birth is also seen as 1955 and 1961. The 1962 date is per IAAF records and the 1955 date may be related to difficulties correlating with Ethiopian calendar.
