Graziano Mancinelli succeeded the D'Inzeo brothers as a great Italian show jumper. In 1964, Mancinelli helped Italy win a team bronze, competing alongside the D'Inzeo's. His participation was quite controversial, as he was considered a professional rider for the Milan horse-dealing company of Fratelli Rivolta. He was initially banned from the Olympics, but he was reinstated the day before the Olympics began. In 1972, Mancinelli returned to the Olympics and won an individual gold medal in show jumping and earned another bronze in the team competition. In the 1972 individual show jumping, he tired with Ann Moore of Britain and Neal Shapiro of the United States, but Mancinelli rode a perfect round in the jump-off to win the title. Mancinelli won a silver medal at the 1970 World Championships, a gold medal at the 1963 European Championships, and was a six-time champion of Italy.
