Biography

Gottfried Weimann finished sixth in the javelin throw at the 1934 European Championships. In Los Angeles 1932 he came in fourth in the javelin and was ninth in 1936 in Berlin. He won five consecutive German titles (1932-36) and earned 13 international caps. In 1933 he was the first German javelin thrower over 70 metres (71.63).

Weimann received his doctorate as an economist at the Graduate School of Management in Leipzig. After 1950 he moved to Bayreuth, where he was a longtime member of the local sports trustees. He was also a longtime active member of the German Olympic Association DOG.
