Gholam Reza Takhti had the following finishes at major championships – 1959 World Championship: 87.0 kg. Freestyle (1st); 1961 World Championship: 87.0 kg. Freestyle (1st); 1951 World Championship: 79.0 kg. Freestyle (2nd); 1954 World Championship: 87.0 kg. Freestyle (5th); 1958 Asian Games: 87.0 kg. Freestyle (1st). Officially Takhti committed suicide, but a lot of sources mention theories about being murdered for his political activities.
