Middle- and long-distance runner Georg Mickler participated in the heats of the 1,500 and 3,000 metres team event at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, but did not reach the finals. In 1911 and 1912 he was runner-up at the German Championships in the 1,500 metres and in 1913 became German Champion in the 800 and 1,500, also setting a 1,000 metre world record that year. In 1914 he competed for one season for Hungary and became Hungarian Champion. While serving as a lieutenant with the Reserve Infantry Regiment 203 Mickler was killed in action during World War I in Galicia.
