Road cyclist Friedrich von Löffelholz finished fourth with the 100 km team trial at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. In 1978 he won the West German amateur road race, placing third in 1980. In 1979 he won the road team trial with RSG Franken Katzwang.
By profession, von Löffelholz was a trained tool and die maker, and then studied mechanical engineering at Aachen. He was named professor in 1995 at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt. He then founded and led the “Steinbeis Transferzentrum für Informations- und Kommunikationstechnik” at Schweinfurt. In 2017 he died after a long and severe illness.
