Biography

Fred Meyer started gymnastics at the age of 18, but also played volleyball and baseball and was active in swimming, diving, badminton, and bowling. For many years, he was a member of the Swiss Turnverein in Union City, New Jersey. Nationally his most successful year was 1935, when he not only won the national all-around title but also won on the floor, parallel bars and horse vault. After World War II he taught physical education and also held various voluntary positions in various levels of sports administration and acted as a gymnastics judge. Meyer worked for the New York Stock exchange for 18 years. He also was a member of the New York School Board.
