Biography

Evžen Rošický ran in the 1934 European Championships, placing fourth in the second heat of the 800. His personal best was 1:54.6 for 800 metres set in 1935 in Wien, Austria. Rošický was an activist in the boycott movement of the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but he eventually decided to take part in those Games. He later became a journalist, joining the underground and resistance movement after the German occupation of Czechoslovakia. Rošický wrote and distributed several pamphlets critical of the Nazis. In 1942 he was arrested together with his father and tortured. After the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich in Praha, Rošický was sentenced to death and – again with his father – executed at Kobylisy, a department of Praha.

Personal Bests: 400 – unknown; 800 – 1:54.6 (1935).
