The previous year Krempel was also beaten by Ullman at the World Championships and won silver and he claimed the bronze medal with the German free pistol team. In 1939 he finally beat Ullman and became World Champion. With the German free pistol team he earned again the bronze medal this time together with his cousin Fritz. Krempel won the German Championship in 1936.

He was inducted in the Hall of Fame of the German Sports Shooting Association. His cousin Fritz participated in the same event at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Krempel was a constructor of sports weapons and coached young sports shooters.
