Zak Carrick-Smith made it very clear what his gold medal in the men's combined at Gangwon 2024 could mean for GB alpine skiing. "I think that gold medal really represents a jump forward for GB alpine skiing,” he told us. Carrick-Smith's mum, Emma Carrick-Anderson, competed in alpine skiing for Great Britain at four Winter Games between 1992 and 2002 and is a huge inspiration for him.
