Carlik Jones delivered talismanic performances at the FIBA World Cup 2023 to help South Sudan clinch a historic Paris 2024 Olympic berth.

The former Chicago Bulls guard bowed out of his debut World Cup as one of the most productive players at the tournament, scoring 102 points – averaging 20.4 points and 10.6 assists per game.

The Bright Stars – basketball's youngest nation to qualify for their first Olympic tournament – made their first appearance at the World Cup for the first time and qualified for Paris 2024 as the best African team.

Jones, who was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, confirmed he would be playing for South Sudan, where his mother is from, shortly before the World Cup, setting up his and the country’s dream debut.
