Biography
Betsy SNITE
After high school in Hanover, New Hampshire, Betsy Snite joined the U.S. ski team and competed mostly in Europe in the late 50s. She was a rare skiier in that she seemed equally adept at all three disciplines. Her finest moment prior to the Olympics came in Grindelwald, Switzerland, where she finished second in the downhill, and won the giant slalom and combined titles. She retired shortly after her Olympic silver medal and later became Mrs. Bill Reilly. They settled back in Vermont, where they ran several stores together. Betsy Snite struggled in later life with difficulties with alcohol and died rather young from pulmonary disease.
