Biografie

During most of her career, Vera Komisova was under the shadow of top Soviet 100 hurdler Tatyana Anisimova. The apex of Komisova’s career came at the 1980 Olympics, where she won the 100 hurdles gold medal in Anisimova’s absence, who had withdrawn due to injury. She was also a late substitute for injured Lyudmila Kondratyeva on the Soviet 4×100 relay team, which won a silver medal. Besides those two Olympic medals, Komisova won a 100 hurdles bronze at the 1979 Universiade. She won three Soviet titles – 100 metres in 1980; high hurdles in 1980; and 4×200 relay in 1978. After finishing her sports career, Komisova worked as a lecturer in the physical education department of the Herzen State Pedagogical University in St. Petersburg.

Personal Bests: 100 – 11.26 (1980); 100H – 12.39 (1980).
