Biografie

Sverre Sørsdal came in second, third and fourth at three consecutive Olympic Games, 1920 and 1924 as a light-heavyweight and 1928 as a heavyweight. In Amsterdam he was not able to compete against Jakob Michaelsen from Denmark, who won the bronze medal by walkover. In Norway he was light-heavyweight champion in 1920 and 1924. Sørsdal studied medicine and later became chief physician at the hospital in Vardø, Norway’s northeasternmost town. When he retired, he was awarded the Royal Medal of Honor for his services.
