Robert "Bobby" Finke was on fire at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, in 2021.

The USA swimmer powered to a new American record of 7:41:87 in the 800m freestyle en route to the Olympic gold medal, before becoming the first male USA swimmer to win the 1500m Olympic title since 1984.

Both finals were hugely dramatic affairs, with Finke twice coming from behind in the final 50m to take the spoils.

The Florida man backed up that performance with his maiden world title in the 800m free at the 2022 World Championships, lowering the American record again to 7:39:36.

In the 1500m free, Finke broke the American record with a time of 14:36:70, but was pipped into silver by Rio 2016 Olympic champion Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy.
