Biografie

Paul Chevret was from a well-known Swiss boxing family, with four brothers who were boxers, including Ernst, Fritz and Walter. From 1959-62 Paul won four Swiss bantamweight championships. In 1961, the year after his appearance at the Roma Olympics, Paul’s Swiss title was matched in Zürich by Ernst, who won the featherweight title and Fritz, who won the flyweight division.

In mid-1962 Paul Chevret turned professional. In total he had 28 pro fights, of which he won 24 and lost 2. His most important bout was for the European flyweight title, which he lost in 1965 against René Libeer in the 15th and final round by TKO due to a non-sanctioned headbutt. Chevret finished his career in 1968.
