Kim Oden played volleyball in college at Stanford, graduating in 1986 with a degree in public policy. Oden was a three-time All-American in college and was NCAA Player of the Year in 1984 and 1985. She played on the US National team from 1986-94, including competing at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics. Her sisters, Elaina and Beverly, were both also on the US National team and played at the Olympics.
Kim Oden played professionally in Italy (1992), China (1993), Brazil (1994) and Turkey (1995). She also played on the Four-Women Pro Beach Tour in the summers from 1993-97, winning MVP honors in 1995. She went into coaching, serving as an assistant coach at the University of North Carolina, Duke, Iowa State, and then Stanford. She also served as head coach at Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, California. She has worked as a guidance and counseling director at Saint Francis and later at The Buckley School.
