Winner of the AAA 440 y in 1912, Cyril Seedhouse won a bronze medal in the 4×400 relay at the 1912 Olympics and reached the semis of the 200 and 400. In 1913 he equaled Mel Sheppard's world record for 500 y when this was still an officially recognized distance. During the war, he was a pilot with the Royal Flying Corps and, although shot in the back, he succeeded in bringing his plane home after a dogfight with two Fokkers.
