Biografie

After winning the 1932 NCAA long jump with a career best of 25-6¼ (7.78), Charles Redd of Bradley finished second to Ed Gordon at the Final Trials. Gordon again beat Redd at the Olympics, but in an extremely close finish – Redd only failed to take the gold by four centimetres. Redd had been the track star and team captain at Bradley University and was the University’s first Olympic competitor. He was a versatile athlete and was successful in the 100-yard dash, the high and low hurdles, and long and triple jump.

Personal Best: LJ – 7.78 (1932).
