Beth Mead is a role model in football for her resilience and determination. Despite facing numerous challenges, the 28-year-old has consistently overcome adversity to achieve remarkable success for her club and country.
Born on May 9, 1995, in Whitby in the north of England, Mead's football journey began at the age of six**. Despite only playing against boys**, she was scouted by Middlesbrough before eventually making her senior debut with Sunderland aged 16.
At Sunderland, she scored no fewer than 77 goals in 78 appearances. In 2017, she joined North London giants Arsenal and contributed to the club's 2018 League Cup and 2019 Women's Super League triumphs.
Mead made her international debut for England in 2018 and helped the side reach the semi-finals of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. After the disappointment of being left out of Great Britain's squad for Tokyo 2020 (in 2021), she enjoyed her best season yet for Arsenal with 14 goals and 19 assists in 40 appearances.
