#AthleteTownhall2022
The 2022 Athlete Townhall was streamed live in webinar format on 27 and 28 July.
The Athlete Townhall is a two-day virtual event designed to celebrate those of you who competed at Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022, and to find out where we could be offering you more support. It represented an opportunity for us to update you on all on what’s happening within the Olympic Movement while looking back on your incredible accomplishments over the past year.

Relive Day 1 of the Athlete Townhall
Day one also provided the chance to celebrate the achievements of those of you who competed at Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022, and gather feedback about your experiences there. Taking place during a global pandemic, these two editions of the Games highlighted strength of our athlete community. Participants also had the opportunity to put forward their questions to the IOC President in an exclusive Q&A session.

Relive Day 2 of the Athlete Townhall
Olympians and athlete representatives came together on 28 July for the second day of the Athlete Townhall, which centred around two athlete-led panel discussions: one highlighting how you can use your status an Olympian to give back to your communities, and the other on exploring how Athlete365 can support you beyond the field of play.
Led by your IOC Athletes’ Commission members and featuring special guests, you can see the full programme below:
27 JULY | DAY 1
Athlete experience of the Olympic Games
For the first session, special guests were invited to relive the highlights of Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 while celebrating their incredible performances. We also discussed the importance of the athlete experience at the Olympic Games and extended the opportunity to provide feedback on Olympians’ experience through interactive questions and polls.
Q&A with IOC President Thomas Bach
For the second session we were joined by IOC President Bach, Olympic fencing champion and a founding member of the IOC AC, for an exclusive Q&A session. All Townhall participants had the opportunity to ask a question and it was a “free fire” round – meaning no topic was off limits!
Already know what you want to ask? You can submit questions in advance here.
28 JULY | DAY 2
IOC support to athletes
For the first panel discussion of day two we looked at the support available to you through Athlete365 – and how it might just take your career to the next level. We were joined by Airbnb Experiences host Lina Taylor, Gabriela Trana, Carlos Santiago while we also explained how you can benefit from Athlete365 Career+ and our mental health resources.
Olympians giving back
The second session looked at ways in which you can use your status as an Olympian to give back to your community. We invited a range of Olympians – including environmental activist Eliza McCartney, P&G Athletes for Good recipient Cynthia Appiah and IOC Athletes’ Commission member Pau Gasol Sáez – to share inspiring stories of how they deliver impactful work around the world.
