One of the most satisfying things about working in education has been the opportunity to support others in reaching their personal and professional goals.

What is your professional background?
I have been a university professor for more than 15 years, and have delivered extensive training for both new and practising teachers. I hold a master’s degree in teaching English as a second language and a doctorate in education.
How are you helping badminton grow?
As the Head of Educational Programmes at the BWF, I design programmes to help national federations to grow the sport of badminton within their respective countries.
Working in the development department at the BWF combines my love of education with my passion for the grassroots development of badminton.
Besides joining the BWF, I was working for 10 years at the Badminton Association of Costa Rica, where I was organising tournaments, training technical officials, and running the administrative aspects of the association.
As the first in my family to go to college, I remember not having anyone to help me navigate the challenges of higher education or the transition to the job market.

Why did you want to become involved in the programme?
One of the most satisfying things about working in education has been the opportunity to support others in reaching their personal and professional goals. As the first in my family to go to college, I remember not having anyone to help me navigate the challenges of higher education or the transition to the job market. I felt intimidated and thought that everyone else seemed to have it figured out. But that experience would later come in handy in my work with university students and helping them explore their options and think about their future paths.
