Why did I want to be a member of the IOC Athletes’ Commission?
After competing at four Olympic Games and winning a gold medal, I wanted to support others in reaching their goals. I want to help athletes to lead constructive and successful lives on and off the field of play, and to get young people to participate more actively in their communities.
What do the Olympic Games mean to me?
The Olympic Games are the reason why I am here today.
The Games have always been a huge part of my life and I am very grateful to be a part of the Olympic Movement.
Role in the AC
With three Olympic Games in a row being held in Asia, I am using my experience and knowledge of the culture to improve the athlete experience. I am also involved in the development of the IOC’s education platform.
