I AM EXTREMELY PASSIONATE ABOUT LISTENING TO THE NEEDS OF ATHLETES
SEUN ADIGUN

Why I am running in the IOC Athletes’ Commission election

The 2000 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony was a pivotal moment in my life. It was a moment of pride and reassurance that the Olympic Movement was one that transcends hope. Instantly, I knew I wanted to help bring that feeling to the world through sports. It was a constant reminder that, when given the opportunity to excel, an athlete can effect true change. It became my motivation to reach the highest heights in sport, even after having two heart surgeries. It gave me the strength I needed to see that the continent of Africa was represented at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in the sports of bobsleigh and skeleton. This same feeling is the reason why I would like to contribute to the development and success of Olympic athletes. As an elected member of the IOC Athletes’ Commission, I will make it a priority to help create opportunities for athletes by listening to their concerns and implementing their ideas. I truly believe in what the Olympic Movement can do to change people’s lives. I intend to be a voice for the underrepresented and stand up for the rights of all athletes.
