Why I am running in the IOC Athletes’ Commission election
Sport has been my passion throughout my life.
When I started sailing there were no specialized coaches in Argentina.
I was professionally trained as a naval architect and worked for the best boat designers in the world.
To participate in an Olympic Game was a dream, literally a dream.
And just as I built boats, I built a sport career and I built my dream.
I devoted my life to sport; my life is divided into 4-year cycles. My vision and my plans were centred on Olympic cycles.
In the sport world I have had different roles: as an athlete and as a businessman, designing and building boats, exporting to over 40 countries and winning over 11 world championships.
America´s CUP, the F1 in our sport, is not just sport, it is also a management and design challenge. On 3 occasions I was the liaison between the design and the racing teams.
This experience of managing and leading roles has given me confidence to apply for this position in the IOC Athletes’ Commission.
My willingness to serve means being able to express our needs to the decision-making organization and making our voices heard.
