Why I am running in the IOC Athletes’ Commission election
As a fellow Olympian, I understand the struggles athletes go through and would like to use my insight to ensure that athletes have a positive and memorable Olympic experience.
It is important that athletes are surrounded by an optimal support system and that athletes’ voices and specific needs are understood, represented and dealt with. Together, Athletes support other Athletes to create positive impact and change.
My involvement in the Namibia Athletes’ Commission has made me realize the importance for athletes to organize themselves and build strong supportive networks, especially with their respective NOCs and NFs. Active Athletes’ Commissions can have a significant effect and impact for athletes in their country. It is important to give Athletes a voice and representation, especially in Africa.
I feel a sense of duty and responsibility to stand up for athletes, and I would like to play an active role in Athlete empowerment and plough back into sport to pave the way forward for future generations to come. I would like to represent the voices of athletes and lead by example.
