I WANT TO REPRESENT ATHLETES, LISTEN TO THEIR IDEAS AND BRING THEM TO THE IOC AC

EVA SAMKOVA

Why I am running in the IOC Athletes’ Commission election

The life of every one of us is a process of gaining wisdom. The most important moments of my life have also been the most difficult ones, and they became my mental “gym” of sorts. My knee injury showed me the importance of physical training. Winning the Olympics taught me how to look for new motivation. Thanks to this, I can support interesting projects in the field of ecology, which I am interested in, or projects supporting sport for children. The unexpected death of my parents made me stronger mentally and further stressed the importance of sport and its contribution to both physical and mental health. My life story would suffice for several lives – I can therefore offer the IOC AC my acquired wisdom from sport, respect for people and nature. As such, I can contribute with my ideas to the well-being of society. I do not see it as a goal, but as a process in which I pass on a part of said wisdom, but I also gain a great deal of it thanks to other personalities from the world of sport, from people who have a different life story and a different type of wisdom.
