Why I am running in the IOC Athletes’ Commission election
The Olympic Movement has been a special part of my life since the Beijing Olympics in 2008. I have seen African paddlers learn a new sport, improve and seen their excitement when they qualified for every Olympic Games. This delight excites me as an Olympic medallist! I would like to become a member of the IOC Athletes’ Commission to keep driving the Olympic Movement to empower Athlete participation and improve the Games experience from the build-up and beyond for Novice and Veteran Olympians. I have seen Olympians feel like they are a failure due to underperforming, so I believe that every Olympic athlete is successful just by qualifying! I want to ensure that every Olympic Athlete competes and exits their sporting career, realizing their achievement. I’d like to be a voice to guide Olympic athletes to be proud of their achievements, then help guide others along the way. I would like to help every Olympic athlete identify the lessons they have learned along the way and take these into their future lives and careers!
Original version: English *Results as of 9 September 2019 and only for disciplines on the Olympic programme
I WOULD LIKE TO HELP OTHER ATHLETES TO HAVE A VOICE WHICH WILL ENABLE THEM TO BECOME BETTER ATHLETES
