Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) will be producing 30 per cent more content at Tokyo 2020 than at Rio 2016 across more formats, assisting the world’s broadcasters in bringing the Games to more people than ever before. This content production is estimated to total more than 9,500 hours at the Games, meaning that every one of you competing will be able to tell your sporting story on the screen.
At several venues, competing athletes will also be able to enjoy their own personalised athlete entry LED gates, announcing their arrival on the Olympic stage. And virtual athlete introduction slides will be in place for both individual and team sports, giving viewers around the world detail like never before on their screens.
OBS has also introduced innovative fan integration technology, which will allow you to feel the love from supporters worldwide. The fan video matrix will let fans feel as if they are a genuine part of the experience and share their reactions to your Olympic performances via five-second videos. A “cheer map” is also being introduced, which will show you how many fans back home are giving you a virtual push with their support.
And to give you that hair-raising feeling when you’re on the field of play, OBS has put together a vast sound bank of crowd samples and ambience sound from previous Olympic Games for the majority of sports at Tokyo 2020. These sounds will be sure to get you in the zone when you’re going for gold.
