Create your own Airbnb Olympian Experience
Athlete365 is proud to bring you Airbnb Olympian & Paralympian Experiences – the key initiative of the IOC’s global Olympic partnership with Airbnb – to provide direct earning opportunities for athletes, underlining our efforts to support you. This exciting category brings Airbnb’s goal of providing economic empowerment through hosting to athletes across the globe, beyond the timeframe and geographical location of the Games.
Promoting sport and physical activity, these experiences allow you to create a unique experience based on your expertise and interests and share it with others. From fencing workshops and skiing lessons to online HIIT sessions and guided meditations, we’re inviting you to show off your passion in a whole new way and get paid to do what you love.
Since launching in early 2020, we have been providing support and training to more than 200 hosts on the Airbnb Experiences platform. Many of these hosts have been running online experiences that provide workout motivation and a sense of connection during these difficult times, and we are always on the lookout for new hosts as we continue to expand the programme. We will be here for you every step of the way in your new venture, and if you get good reviews then you might just be able to turn your ‘experience’ into a regular income stream.
Athletes at the heart of partnership
Over the course of the partnership, the IOC, together with Airbnb, will also make at least USD 28 million worth of accommodation support available to athletes competing at the Olympic Games for competition- and training-related travel. “On behalf of the Athletes’ Commission, I am delighted that our global agreement with Airbnb will benefit the athletes directly,” said IOC AC Chair Kirsty Coventry. “This includes direct revenue opportunities from sharing your passion for sport through the Olympian Experiences project, as well as direct support for your accommodation needs.
“We work to empower athletes around the world on and off the field of play, and this agreement is another example of how we are supporting and advocating for you throughout your career.”
Over the course of the partnership, the IOC and Airbnb will also establish further programmes to provide long-term support to refugees, building on the IOC Refugee Olympic Team and Airbnb’s “Open Homes” programme, which connects generous hosts with those in need of temporary accommodation. Working together with the International Paralympic Committee, Airbnb will also promote accommodation that supports accessibility for people with disabilities or other accessibility needs.
WE WORK TO EMPOWER ATHLETES AROUND THE WORLD ON AND OFF THE FIELD OF PLAY, AND THIS AGREEMENT IS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW WE ARE SUPPORTING AND ADVOCATING FOR YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER.
One million hosts
The partnership will activate a potential Airbnb community of one million people across host cities, giving local residents the opportunity to earn extra income by providing accommodation and local experiences to visiting fans, athletes, their entourages and other members of the Olympic Movement. For visitors, the Airbnb community will offer a more local and authentic way to immerse themselves in the host cities and engage with the local communities. For the cities themselves, the Airbnb community represents a more environmentally sustainable way of accommodating a surge in visitors.
