As an athlete who competes at a higher level, you will spend a lot of time practicing, training, and recovering, and you want to keep educating yourself in any form that you possibly can.
Some of the practices that I preach, almost every single day, are yoga and trigger point therapy. Without those, I wouldn’t be able to properly recover my body and actually train on the full force and full capacity as I am now.
Providing value through an Airbnb Experience
Trigger point therapy is highly important because when our muscles are blocked it creates a knot or a bundle of knots. This happens especially when we have stress; that’s what creates those muscle knots and also the emotional tension. It holds on to the shoulders and to different parts of the body, and we need to open them up. A lot of times massage helps, but with trigger point therapy, they work immediately. And the yoga, when you switch it in, is just a perfect combination.

That’s the reason for my Airbnb Experiences. My life goal and my life mission are to help other people, and it just feels good to help one another. Giving value, helping and sharing is what matters and that’s what people appreciate the most.
I would be with the people and do the Experiences in person, but since the lockdown, since COVID-19 happened, everything just shut down. It took a while, but Airbnb was amazing; it adapted straight away and launched Online Experiences. Honestly, it’s better than ever, because now I can reach the entire world.
I’ve enjoyed the collaboration with Airbnb and Athlete365; it’s been very easy, very direct, and very friendly. Athlete365 is continually looking at ways that it can help me out more, and Airbnb is really helpful with all the information and the necessary equipment that I need for putting on the best possible Experiences. I’ve had no issues at all, both sides have been very collaborative, and this is what I enjoy: working with people who are as passionate as I am about what I’m doing. It’s been wonderful.
My focus is to compete in Tokyo and obviously give the best that I have, but right now what I’m doing on the side with Airbnb and the IOC, I think it’s an amazing opportunity and this is something that I’m looking forward to doing in the future, maybe full time.
I can’t do too many Airbnb Experience sessions during the week because I‘ve still got a lot of energy that’s going out in training, and I have to be very conservative of that. But in the future, I should be able to give more and more to the Airbnb Experiences, which is exciting.
Why you should get involved
It’s easy to get involved if you have something to offer. An athlete’s expertise is amazing, and if you have an extra passion that you feel you should share with other people – and that could help them feel some benefits – then I think you definitely should jump in and start doing it.
The only thing I do want to mention is that you should do it full-hearted: give your 100%. That doesn’t mean exhausting yourself but just give your best, like in every single thing that you do.
You must be ready to listen to constructive criticism so that you can improve your Experience, but also never forget you are doing a good thing. You’re going to give great value to other people.
