Thanks to the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant, I was able to book some lovely accommodation right in the Whistler Olympic Village for a training camp, which was so close to the gym and where I needed to be.

Home from home
Five hundred athletes benefitted from the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant last year, and a further 500 Grants will be awarded in 2022.
“It makes you feel like you’re home away from home and, for athletes who travel a lot, that feeling of comfort really makes a difference,” says British sailor Saskia Sills, who used her Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant to make her stay before the World Championships that little bit more comfortable – with positive results both on and off the water.
It was a similar story for visually impaired Para triathlete Nicolas Dewalque, with the flexibility provided by his Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant proving to be a game-changer for finding accommodation that suited his needs. “Having the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant meant I could just focus on the racing, and it removed a huge part of the travel organisation stress,” he explains.
A foundation for Olympic dreams
Ultimately, the support available aims to help you achieve your sporting dreams. Canadian freestyle skier Amy Fraser OLY is one of the athletes who used the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant to help prepare for Beijing 2022. Now, she’s an Olympian.
“It helped enormously with covering the costs of my training ski trips,” she says. “It took so much pressure off because accommodation is often so expensive. Thanks to the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant, I was able to book some lovely accommodation right in the Whistler Olympic Village for a training camp, which was so close to the gym and where I needed to be.”
