The Athlete365 Career+ workshops are designed to provide advice to athletes on how to navigate their career beyond sport. The topics focus on life skills, education and employment, and range from self-knowledge to how to write a CV/résumé, while learning from and connecting with fellow Olympians and athletes.
The workshops are organised by National Olympic Committees (NOCs), International Sports Federations (IFs), Continental Associations (CAs) and their Athletes’ Commissions (ACs), and are aimed at Olympians and elite athletes over 16 years old. Available in the five continents and in six languages, these workshops can be organised as standalone events or as part of an athletes’ forum, training camp, sports tournament, etc.
Reflect on the need to plan early for your career beyond sport
Realise the need to balance sport with study and other activities
Develop your self-knowledge
Learn how to transfer the skills learned in sport to the labour market
Begin to set a plan for your career development
Identify learning and development opportunities
The workshops help athletes start thinking about their journey after sport, explore their potential for sporting success, education and career choices, and get ready to learn, prepare, connect and find their way to career success!
To attend one of the workshops hosted by the Olympic Movement organisations, athletes should contact the event organiser. For in-person events, there might be a limited number of places, and priority will be given to Olympians, Paralympians and elite athletes.
SELF DISCOVERY WORKSHOPS – Discover your potential

The Self Discovery workshops help athletes grow and develop an understanding of themselves, and power up their career choices.
No matter their career stage, taking time to reflect and evaluate who they are and what they want out of life will elevate their future career.
These dynamic workshops, suitable for all elite-level athletes over 16 years old, will take them on a journey of self-reflection through games, storytelling and discussions across four two-hour sessions, delivered in person or online through events organised by the National Olympic Committees, International Sports Federations or Continental Associations and their Athletes’ Commissions.
Session 1: Strengths and values
Time for self-reflection on questions such as: What are my strengths? What could I improve? What is important to me? What are my values?
Session 2: Interests and skills
Explore what sparks your interest outside sport, and define your unique set of skills that can be transferred to the workplace.
Session 3: Passion and impact
Go deeper into discovering what drives you, and see how you can use it to make a positive impact on the world.
Session 4: Purpose and planning
Identify your purpose and start planning your next steps into a “purpose-driven” life.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
By helping you discover your strengths and potential impact on the world, these workshops will give you a solid foundation for increased self-knowledge, confidence, self-esteem and leadership capacity. You will be able to:
- Identify your unique personality traits, behaviour, strengths, interests, skills, values and motivations, and bring them together in a “Me Map”.
- Build a personal library of key significant words and attributes that you will use in your career development process (networking, in your CV and in an interview).
- Recognise the traits, experiences, values and skills that you learned as an athlete, and transfer them into the world of work and wider aspects of life.
- Identify specific career paths and occupations based on your talents, passion and interests.
- Reflect on and explore your passions, your purpose and how you can create a positive impact in the world.
- Discover how planning your actions can lead to your dreams in sport, your career and life.
CV/Résumé Workshops – Write a winning CV/Résumé

Build a powerful CV and cover letter to get you further.
Athletes’ skills, experience and achievements naturally make them stand out from the crowd. Now it’s time to show the world of work what they’re capable of and find the right role.
These two two–hour workshops will help athletes create an impactful CV and cover letter, tailored to the job or role that they’re applying for. Athletes will also learn how to “rise above the competition”, identify what works and what doesn’t when writing a CV, and emphasise their strengths to ensure that they open as many doors as possible.
Session 1:
First, you will reflect on your interests and the vocations that you are naturally attracted to. This will help you figure out which professions are a match for you.
You’ll find out what transferable competencies you have, and how to translate your athlete skills into business language so that your résumé stands out among all the others that land on a hiring manager’s desk.
With examples and advice from experts, you’ll learn how to write a winning CV/résumé, whether you’re just starting out or already have professional experience.
Session 2:
Together we will break down each section of the CV/résumé and take an in-depth look at how to put each part together.
Using the SOAR technique, you will learn to summarise your actions and results, so as to best outline your transferable skills and competencies, and the outcomes you have achieved.
We will take a look at the finishing touches, and our top tips for the cover letter will help you to ensure the door opens for you when you submit your CV/resumé.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to identify what are the content and structure of a winning CV, create a compelling cover letter and explain why it is always important to have a CV ready. You will be able to:
- Describe what a CV is, who may ask for one, and why/when is it useful and needed.
- Identify universal guidelines on CV and cover letter structure and content, recognising that you need to adapt these to your own country/region and the job you are applying for.
- Draft or adapt your CV using a universal athlete-specific template.
- Use your self-knowledge to create a powerful CV summary and experience statements.
- Learn about the various IOC platforms and services to help you prepare to find job opportunities.
Workshop Application Process
Olympic Movement organisations such as National Olympic Committees, International Federations, Continental Associations and their Athletes’ Commissions are empowered and encouraged to host an Athlete365 Career+ Workshop.
The application periods for hosting a workshop are each year from 1 January to 30 March and 1 June to 30 August. Host organisations should complete the Athlete365 Career+ Workshop Request Form at least three months prior to the desired event date.
Only NOCs in need of financial resources can submit an application via the Olympic Solidarity Relay platform to organise Athlete365 Career+ workshops as part of the Olympic Solidarity Athlete Career Transition (ACT) programme. Please note that the same application deadlines apply for this as for the workshops.
Once the workshop request form has been submitted and the application deadline has passed, the Athlete365 Career+ team will assess the workshop feasibility and contact the applicant within four weeks. Please note that the number of workshops per year is limited and we may not be able to accommodate all requests. We thank you for your understanding.
