Be legally eligible to create an Airbnb account and receive Athlete Travel Support Credits from Airbnb. Airbnb users must be 18+ years of age.
The following are not eligible to apply to the Programme:
Directors, officers, employees, independent contractors, advertisers and agents, including those of subsidiaries or affiliates of Airbnb, the IOC, and the IPC (collectively, “Released Parties”), and the members of their immediate families or households (including without limitation spouse, their partner, housemates, children, parents, siblings, grandparents, and grandchildren).
Competition partners of Paralympic athletes are eligible to receive a grant, too. For more information, refer to the full T&Cs.

Launched in 2021, the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant was created exclusively to support elite athletes on their journeys to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
We are offering up to 1,000 athletes a USD 2,000 Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant to book accommodation on Airbnb that aligns with your needs and values during the most important moments of your sporting careers.

What is the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant?
The aim of the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant programme is to provide accommodation support to eligible athletes selected by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Accommodation support will be provided in the form of a USD 2,000 Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant, which can be applied towards Airbnb stays.

Is the Travel Grant open to Paralympians as well as Olympians?
Yes, it is open to Olympians, Paralympians and also elite athletes currently competing under an IOC– or International Paralympic Committee (IPC)–recognised federation in a sport that is part of the official programme for the Olympic or Paralympic Games Paris 2024, Milano Cortina 2026.

Athlete Competition Partners supporting a Paralympic athlete are only eligible to receive the grant as part of the application of the athlete they support. The athlete must indicate the competition partner they compete with and their relevant information in the application form.
The definition of Athlete Competition Partner as per the IPC Accreditation Guide: “Athlete competition partners are persons without an eligible impairment whose participation is essential to guiding, piloting and directing athletes in designated sport classes that require such assistance during competition”. Only one competition partner per athlete can be indicated.
The grants can’t be reassigned and only the athlete competition partner indicated in the application form is eligible. If the application is selected, both athlete and athlete competition partner must have an Airbnb account and will each receive a USD 2,000 grant.

How will recipients be selected to receive the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant?
Each year, members of the IOC administration will select up to 1,000 recipients based on the personal statement provided in each individual’s application and other criteria set out in the Terms that reflect the programme’s aim to support elite athletes in need. The applicants’ geographical locations and the sports they compete in will also be considered to ensure diversity across the pool of recipients.

How will I be notified if I am selected to receive the Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant?
Within eight weeks of the application closing date, Athletes that are selected to receive the Grant will be notified via an email from athlete365@olympic.org. Following this notification, Airbnb will send a link to all selected athletes inviting and instructing them to accept their Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant by adding it to their Airbnb Account.

How long do I have to use the grant?
The Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant will expire 12 months after the email instructions and invitation to accept the grant is sent.

How can I apply my Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant to a reservation?
Your Airbnb Athlete Travel Grant will be automatically applied to a reservation when you are ready to book. If you do not want to use your grant for that booking, you can remove the grant at checkout and elect to apply it to a later booking.

Can I use the grant across multiple trips?
Yes, you can use the grant for accommodation over multiple trips.

We receive an overwhelming number of applications and are unfortunately not able to accept any applications after the closing date.

My grant has expired or is expiring soon. Can I have the expiration date extended?
Unfortunately we cannot re-issue credit, extend a credit expiration date or issue new credit. But you can use existing credit to book a trip with a check-in after the expiration date (as long as booking occurs before the expiration date).

I am a wheelchair user. Is there accommodation that I can use or an Experience that I can do?
Yes! When searching for accommodation, you can use Airbnb’s search filters to exclusively view properties with wheelchair friendly features, including “step-free” entryways and passages, wide doorways, bathroom bars and chairs, and more. All property accessibility information is provided by the Airbnb Host and reviewed by Airbnb. When searching for an Experience to try, you can similarly select filters to show only Experiences with no stairs or steps, mainly level ground, accessible parking and more.
