Although Sven Hannawald has won many titles, his most remarkable feat is his performance in the 2001/2002 Four Hills Tournament. He became the first person to win all four events in the prestigious competition, and this victory set him up for the overall World Cup. In the same season, he also won the ski flying World Championships (retaining his 2000 title) and two Olympic medals, including the gold in the team competition. In earlier years, Hannawald had won team gold at the 1999 and 2001 World Championships, and two individual medals. In 2003, he became only the third ski jumper to land a "perfect jump", receiving 20.0 scores from all judges, and won his second overall World Cup. The following season, Hannawald struggled with the pressure to perform, and was eventually diagnosed with burnout. He retired in 2005 because of this, later returning to the world of ski jumping as the expert commentator for German television.
