السيرة الذاتية

An experienced skier long before he took up the bobsled, Peter Kirby was one of the four Canadians who pulled off a surprise gold medal at the 1964 Winter Olympics, which later turned out to be the nation’s only taste of gold at those Games. He was the champion at the Canadian Junior Alpine Skiing Championships in 1953, a member of the Canadian F.I.S. team in 1954 and, while attending Dartmouth for geology and business studies, captained the University Ski Team in 1956. Aside from winning gold in 1964, he was also part of Vic Emery’s two-man bobsled team that finished fourth at the same Games, as well as the gold medal-winning bobsled team at the 1965 World Championships. He is a member of the Canada Sports Hall of Fame and the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame. He retired from his career as a geologist and businessman and settled in Mont Tremblant.
