Michael Murach won the welterweight title at the 1937 European Championships and at the next championships two year later he was eliminated by England’s Robert Thomas in the quarter-finals. At the 1936 Berlin Olympics Murach won the welterweight silver medal losing on points to the Finnish boxer Sten Suvio. In total Murach won five German titles, and participated in 21 international matches. He was employed by the Gelsenkirchen council and lost his life during World War II, at the Siege of Leningrad in 1941.
