José Pérez had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1955 Pan American Games individual, 1st in the 1955 Pan American Games team (with David Romero and Antonio Almada), 3rd in the 1959 Pan American Games team (with Antonio Almada and Sergio Escobedo), 3rd in the 1963 Pan American Games team (with Antonio Almada and Sergio Escobedo).
