Jimmy Butler, also known as "Jimmy Buckets" and "Playoff Jimmy" due to his scoring ability and clutch performances, was born in Houston in September 1989. He began his basketball journey during college, impressing in his freshman year at Tyler Junior College before accepting an athletic scholarship to go to Marquette University.

Butler was the 30th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, going to the Chicago Bulls. After being restricted to limited playing time in his rookie year, he made became a key member of the team in the second half of the 2012-13 season. He started all the side's 12 play-off games with their postseason ending in the Conference Semi-Finals against the Miami Heat.

The small forward earned his first NBA All-Defensive Second Team selection in 2014 and became an All-Star the following year. At Rio 2016, he helped the USA win a third consecutive Olympic gold.

After leaving the Bulls for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2017, then joined the Philadelphia 76ers in 2018. Butler moved on again after one season to the Heat and, in his first season in Florida, took the side all the way to the NBA Finals. His all-round skills and seemingly endless stamina endeared him to basketball fans, but the Heat lost out 4-2 to LeBron James' LA Lakers.
