Eva Twardokens came from an Olympic family, as her father, Jerzy, fenced for Poland at the 1952 Olympics. He defected to the United States after the 1958 World Fencing Championships in Philadelphia. Eva Twardokens had a very long career, skiing World Cup from 1983-95. In addition to her two Olympic appearances, she competed at four World Championships (1985, 1987, 1989, 1991), winning a bronze medal in giant slalom in 1985, and placing fifth in giant slalom in 1991. During her World Cup career, she had three podium finishes and 34 top 10s. She later became a ski instructor at the Kirkwood Resort, also working with people in fitness training off the snow through Crossfit. Twardokens has also worked as a ski racing commentator on television.
