The outstanding Scottish middle distance runner of the early 1920s, Duncan McPhee won the Scottish mile title in 1913 and then took the 880y/Mile double at the his next five Championships (1914, 1920-23). He did not compete in the 1919 Championships. McPhee’s career at the AAAs also spanned World War I and in the mile he placed third in 1914, second in 1920, and was the winner in 1922, when he also placed fourth in the 880y. He won the mile in the Triangular International in 1914 and 1920-21 and was a finalist in the 1500 at the 1920 Olympics. His Scottish 1000y record, set in 1920, was not beaten for 14 years.

Personal Bests: 880y – 1:58.0 (1922); 1000y – 2:16.0 (1920); 1500 - 4.07.2 (1920); Mile – 4:23.8 (1922).
