Deena Lynn WIGGER

Deena Wigger was the daughter of legendary American shooter Lones Wigger, and learned to shoot under his guidance. When she was only 16-years-old she competed at the 1983 Pan American Games, winning gold medals in small-bore rifle prone, and small-bore rifle, prone, team event. She won three further Pan Am medals, golds in small-bore rifle prone in 1987 and small-bore rifle 3 positions in 1995, and a bronze in 1987 air rifle. She also won a bronze medal at the 1986 World Championships, and a silver medal in air rifle at the 1990 Worlds. Wigger broke the women’s world record for air rifle in 1989, with 389 of a 400 possible.

Wigger attended college at Murray State in Kentucky, helping them win an NCAA team championship. She continued to shoot after her 1988 Olympic appearance, first joining the Wyoming Air National Guard, and then joined the US Air Force, working as a medical technician and an assistant shooting coach at the Air Force Academy. She continued to shoot with the US Army Marksmanship Unit (USAMU) and competed at the Military World Championships (CISM) several times.
