السيرة الذاتية

In 1933 Amado Azar, called “El Sapo” (The Toad) because of his chubby and grouchy appearance, started a successful professional career. After only four pro fights he disappeared for almost one year during which he allegedly cured a mysterious liver disease, only to come back and win with a knockout in the first round. Amongst others he beat the Spanish European champions Ignacio Ara and Jose Martínez. Four of his six losses came against his compatriot Paul Rodriguez. In 1941 Azar won the Argentinian light heavyweight title, finishing his career in 1945 with a victory on points, ending with a professional record of 53 wins, 6 losses, and 7 draws. Amado’s elder brother, Jorge (1910 -?), was also a professional boxer.
